At our house I've noticed a similar pattern since Birch has started med school. Every month or two he'll have a big test and the week before we move into "tax season mode." Birch is actually really good about being home to study even if it means staying in the office with the door shut. But I'll admit the day before his test I'm about to go a little crazy, tired of keeping Trevor busy and quiet, and ready to have my husband replace the man with the glazed eyes.
Then....April 16 arrives! As soon as Birch walks in the door after taking his test he is a new man! Suddenly there are things to talk about and all kinds of games he needs to play with Trevor. Just in the last few days I've found the boys playing baseball in the living room and later learning to dance to Weezer. We've even had a few meals cooked by dad himself--yum!
Here's a project that Birch and I worked on together in the last few days. He did the cement work and I was the painter.
After our many trips to Rocky Point we found something we hadn't bought before: numbers for our house. I think we almost fit in now with our Mexican neighbors, now all we need are tiles with "DeGomez" written above our door and we'll be set.

That looks so good! I hope you have more April 16ths than 15ths... :)
Looks great. I hear you with the pre and post test husband/dad. We call ourselves the test widows. We lose our husbands until they are done studying.... then they miraculously return. Good luck with that...
Haha--i love that "test widows." I don't know who is more relieved to have the tests over--us or our husbands!
(And your tiles look fabulous!)
Yeah, I totally identified with this great post. Unfortunately for us, though, the "test" is actually a dissertation, and it won't be done for several more months. Sigh.
I love the numbers!
Hooray for April 16th!!! I feel the same way. When Ben has a big test and locks himself in the office for days on end i start to go a little nuts! Those days come too often if you ask me but i guess it has to be done. Hopefully it pays off huh?!? Glad to know we are not alone in this area!
At least Birch is about halfway through!
You need a cool name for your house too if you are going for the Rocky Point look, like Casa de Estudiante de Medico. What do you think? Probably too many words.
I love how there was a comment that said Birch is "halfway through." Hmm, not so true...you know that med school is only the beginning! Love your "tax season" analogy!
Nice work on the tiles!
