Something about pregnancy makes me anxious to finish projects around the house. I know this isn't the most exciting post, but I've been busy painting lately and even recruited Birch to join me last weekend. I have big plans to finish the trim outside and the bathrooms, kids' room and office inside...we'll see what actually happens.
I'm also trying to figure out how to decorate a room for both a boy and a girl. I'm thinking about using navy blue. I've found some cute ball bed sets with blue and green for Trevor and I think I can make blue and pink work for our girl. But paint? Can you really paint a wall navy blue? Maybe just the bottom half? Anyone with any interior design ideas, please help!

I am not an expert, but my sister-in-law has done amazing things with her home and I've seen her do the darker color on the top 3/4 or 1/2 of the walls and then leavee the bottom white.
I don't know if you remember our Linda Vista House.. But our whole kitchen was navy.. and it looked good.. It continued into the living room as an accent.. =) Good Luck..
Hey Camille! I just found your blog from Marie's - congratulations on your baby girl on the way! We're expecting baby #3 in June, so Liam and Ella may start sharing a room - Liam's room is a dark navy blue on the bottom 3 feet of the wall, and then the rest of the room is a pale sky blue. Having the lighter color on top seems to make the room feel really big. When he was two we had little truck and car decals where the two colors met; right now we have Curious George room stickers all over. If Ella starts living in that room, I plan to paint red dots where the two colors meet and decorate some of them like ladybugs...that's a little girly touch that won't be too feminine for a 4 year old boy :) Tanya
I've thought about sage green if our baby is a boy..and maybe multicolored polka dots or something.
I think I'm nesting this week too because my house is so clean, and it's NEVER clean!!
I like navy blue for sure. It probably wouldn't be too much, either, to do one entire accent wall navy blue... or if you already have the "two-toned" wall set up, or are wanting to put up that board that looks like little wood slats running up and down on the bottom half, then you could definitely leave that white and paint the top navy. The board on the bottom would definitely give it a more dressed up (but not girly) feel. Fun ideas!! Are you a stripe fan? That could be fun to incorporate somehow since stripes are usually more boy-ish, but then you could incorporate some "girl" colors, too, and make it work. It'll be fun to see what you come up with!!
Hope you guys are doing well. We were surprised to hear that Birch got so sick. I'm sorry!! Glad that things are better now and that the nesting period has officially begun! Haha. I'm just hoping we get into a new place in the next couple of months... that would be amazing. :)
I agree with Tanya - the lighter color on top will open the room up to feel bigger. A whole room in a dark color will close it in a LOT!
Ryan & Sarah share a room, and if it were MY house, I would have painted it green. Ryan's stuff was always blue and green and Sarah's is pink and green. I love them both.
Good luck! I think navy and pink could be really nice.
