The Calm Before the Storm

The last two weeks have been uneventful and WONDERFUL around our house. After the second hospital stay I appreciate things like being able to clean my own house and play blocks with my son a lot more. A few days a week are spent going to doctor visits, which is getting old but at least we're all home together.

The other nice part has been Birch's relaxed schedule for school. The last block is called "Advanced Topics," or all the extra/miscellaneous things they haven't studied yet. Luckily it has meant fewer lectures and more time for Birch to spend with us. I wish we could say we've had big trips to the zoo, the pool, etc. but with me being on "light bedrest" it's mostly been time at home. Sometimes that's the best, right?

Birch has one more week of school and then he's supposed to start studying for 5-6 weeks for his boards. He's scheduled to take the test June 9 but that will have to change. Even though our baby is due June 14 my doctor says there's a good chance I'll deliver early. Not too soon (cross my fingers!) but I probably won't make my due date. Most likely we'll push the test back to the end of June so Birch can take some time off in the middle when the baby comes.

So I'm gearing up for 10-hour study days in my last weeks before delivery with a busy two-year-old. Who can really study for 10 hours anyway? Birch's advisors will help him plan out the time each day to make that happen but I still can't imagine it. Then somewhere in the middle of that we'll have a new baby, he'll actually take the test and we'll get adjusted to our new family. No sweat!

I hear ya! Sometimes after a busy week/month It is sooo nice to just hang out at home with the family. It's too bad it takes these situations to make us appreciate the little things in life.

Ha! I love the timing of it all. We seem to have it down, too (Alisa born during Boards part 1 and this baby, during Boards part 2--well, right after, I guess!) Heavenly Father will bless Birch on his test, I am sure! Glad things are uneventful and sorry they weren't! We're excited for you!

You are seeing Dr. Hutchison aren't you? Her husband's birthday is June 7. If you are still hanging on by then, make sure she won't be at the Gas Light celebrating his birthday when you deliver!!!! That is what she was doing June 5, 2005!!!
Hang in there. Your daughter will be here before you know it! Someday you will look back on this and it will seem like it was nothing at all. Just think, we'd never have met if it weren't for bed rest!! My thoughts are with you.

Is there any time to be having a baby other than a crazy busy time? I wouldn't know... Good luck with it all. We're here if you guys need anything.

Wow-- you can do it!! I'm glad you've been enjoying time at home. Allen's going a little crazy not being able to get out of bed or turn on his side much, but I know time will fly like it always does and we'll be looking back thinking... Wow. Do you remember a year ago when...?? :) How is the transition from crib to bed going??

Yay for uneventful! Glad things are calming down a bit for your family. You guys have had a crazy ride so far that is for sure. Yeah love the test timing dang. Well if you can make it through this you can do anything right?!? Schedule lots of play dates where you can get out and go to someone elses house and just sit with the new baby while trevor plays. That is my plan...hope my friends are ready for my calls to say...hey when can we come over and play hee hee.
